CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WV News) — The Cultural Foundation of Harrison County will feature two North Central West Virginia artists at the July installment of its Artist After Hours event.
The event will be held 5:30-7 p.m. July 21 at the Uptown Event Center in Clarksburg. The event will feature singer-songwriter Gracie Metheny and visual artist Stacey Elder Oxley.
An Elkins native, Gracie Metheny is a passionate 18-year-old singer/songwriter whose work features a contemporary Christian and modern country flair with expressive songwriting. Metheny’s music takes listeners on a journey of emotions, away from their day-to-day struggles even for just a short time, while making them feel good.
Clarksburg resident Stacey Elder Oxley is an award-winning visual artist who specializes in creating fun, spontaneous paintings filled with vivid color and textured surfaces. Her work features multiple textures that evoke different sensations when viewed. Oxley earned her BA in a Studio Art from Fairmont State University in 2010. In 2013, she obtained her MFA in Painting and Drawing from the University of Georgia. Her work has been featured in galleries throughout the eastern United States. Oxley was featured in Tamarack’s Best of WV Juried Exhibition and was awarded Best in Show.
The event is free. Light refreshments also will be served.
Established in 1972, the mission of The Cultural Foundation of Harrison County is to foster an art-rich environment and to encourage the development and appreciation of all art forms while promoting the growth and expansion of artistic, cultural and economic development.
